Greetings from St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church! As the Pastor of St. Stephen, it is my privilege to announce that during 2019 we will be commemorating our 150th Year Anniversary. Our Parish was founded by German immigrants in 1869, with the construction of the church and interior wood carvings all being hand-crafted by these same immigrants. The building was completed in 1871 and has been listed on the National Historic Register since 1977. We are fortunate to have the only Gothic pipe organ still functional in the Cleveland area; a rare statuary depiction of God the Father centered above the High Altar; stained glass windows imported from Munich, Germany; and a one-of-a-kind free-standing oak wood pulpit. We continue to honor our early church traditions by celebrating a German Mass the first Sunday of every month, and are proud to host a weekly Sunday Latin Tridentine Mass.
We are planning a fundraiser to be held on Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Downtown Cleveland. This event will consist of a social hour, dinner, music and a silent auction.
Proceeds from this fundraising event will not only benefit the 150th Jubilee Celebration of St. Stephen Church that is planned for September 2019, but will help us maintain the historical features of our parish building, preserve our heritage and traditions, grow our ministry for future generations, and continue to provide both spiritual and critical support services for those in need within our community.
We are hoping that you will be willing to be a sponsor for our event or be able to provide a suitable item/gift package for our silent auction and raffle. Any gift, monetary or otherwise, you can donate for this event would be much appreciated.
Our Silent Auction items for the Gala include: a week long stay at a private home in a gated golf community in San Tan Valley, Arizona; a 4-course wine/food paired dinner prepared and served at the winning bidder’s home; autographed boxing gloves from Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini; an autographed bat from Sandy Alomar, Jr.; ticket packages from the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians; a 4-some of golf at Signature of Solon Country Club; a 50” flat-screen television, and a gift basket of gift cards from unique Ohio City Restaurants.
